Sweet and Sour Beets Recipe

 

Ingredients

 

Serve 4

  • 1 lb/500 g red beets/beetroot

  • 1 onion, thinly, sliced

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1 tbsp sugar


Method:

  1. Cook the beets in salted, boiling water for 30-35 minutes, or until tender.

  2. Cook the onion in salted, boiling water for 5 minutes, or until softened. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.

  3. Peel the beets and dice them. Sauté the beets with the butter, water, vinegar, and sugar in a large frying pan over low heat for 5 minutes.

  4. Place the beets on a serving plate and spoon the onions into the center. Serve warm.
