Baby Onions with Herbs and White Wine Recipe

 

Ingredients

 

Serve 4

  • 1 3/4 lb/800 g white baby onions, peeled

  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  • 2 cups/500 ml dry white wine

  • 3 bay leaves

  • 1 tbsp each finely chopped thyme, marjoram, and mint


Method:

  1. Sauté the onions in the oil and butter in a large frying pan over high heat for about 10 minutes

  2. Stirring with a wooden spoon so that the onions brown evenly. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Pour in the wine and add the bay leaves and herbs. Partially cover and cook for 15 more minutes.  Uncover and cook until the sauce reduces by half.

  4. Serve hot or at room temperature.
