Deep-Fried Tempeh
with Chili Sauce

Serves 4
Method:

Cut the tempeh
in
half, then slice into 1cm/1/2-inch pieces. Heat the
oil to 170°C (325°F).

Deep-fry the tempeh for
about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Drain well on
paper towels.

Place the tempeh on a bed of lettuce
and garnish with the sliced tomato and cucumber.

Serve the chili sauce separately in a saucer.
Note: Thai
chili sauce is widely available in supermarkets and
Asia groceries. It is mostly used with Thai crisp
spring rolls and has a sweet, piquant flavor. For
those who prefer not to use chopsticks it may be
better to drizzle the chili sauce over the dish
rather than have it in a separate dish for dipping.
