Fried Soy Sausage
and Onion in Sweet Soy Sauce

Ingredients

400g/14oz long-grained
rice,
rinsed

1 Tbsp sunflower oil

1 medium onion, sliced
-
8 soy sausages, sliced diagonally

1 green pepper, deseeded and sliced

2 Tbsp mirin
-
3 Tbsp Japanese soy sauce
-
2 Tbsp sugar
-
1/2 punnet cress, rinsed
Serves 4
Method:

Cook the rice. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion,
sausages and pepper for 4 to 5 minutes.

Stir in
the mirin, soy sauce and sugar and continue to fry
for 3 to 4 more minutes.

Place the rice in a
serving bowl or on a plate and top with the sausage
mixture.

Garnish with the watercress and serve hot.
Note: For
a lighter version of this recipe, substitute a green
leaf and tomato salad for the rice.
