Party Desserts Recipes - Crunchy Chicken Livers With Sour Cream
Dip
Ingredients

oil, for deep-frying

1/3 cup (85ml) cornmeal

1/4 cup (60ml) all-purpose
flour, sifted

1/2 tsp (2.5ml) salt

1/2 tsp (2.5ml) pepper

1 egg
-
3 tbsp (45ml) milk

7 chicken livers, cleaned and
cut into 3/4 inch (2cm) pieces
SOUR CREAM DIP
-
1 cup (250ml) sour cream
-
3 tbsp (45ml) grated onion
-
1/2 tsp (2.5ml) salt
-
1/4 tsp (1ml) Worcestershire
sauce

1 tsp (5ml) Dijon mustard
-
4 drops Tabasco or chili pepper
sauce
Method:

Combine all dip ingredients, cover and refrigerate
unti ready to serve.

Put
1 1/2 inch (3.5cm) oil in an electric frying pan or
deep fryer. Carefully heat oil to 375F (190C) while
preparing chicken livers.

Combine cornmeal, flour and seasonings. Mix egg with
milk. Dip each piece of liver into seasoned
cornmeal, then into egg mixture and then into
cornmeal again.

Deep-fry for 2 minute or until golden brown. Serve
hot on toothpicks with dip.
NOTE:
These appetizers can be prepared in advance. To reheat
livers, place in a 350F (180C) oven for about 10
minutes.
