Italian Recipes - Italian Beef Sandwiches

Ingredients                     

  • 4-pound boneless beef sirloin or rolled rump roast

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 0.7-ounce package Italian salad dressing mix

  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning, crushed

  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 10 to 12 kaiser rolls or other sandwich rolls, split, or 1 loaf French bread, split

  • Bottled roasted red pepper strips (optional)


Method:

  1. Trim fat from meat. Cut meat into 1-inch pieces. Place meat in a 3 1/2- to 5-quart slow cooker.

  2. In a small bowl stir together the water, dry dressing mix, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, and garlic powder; pour over beef. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours.

  3. Remove meat with a slotted spoon. Using two forks, shred meat. Serve meat on rolls. If desired, top individual sandwiches with roasted red pepper strips.

  4. Drizzle with some of the cooking juices to moisten.
