Provolone-Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
-
1 egg
-
1/4 cup seasoned fine
dry bread crumbs
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1 pound uncooked ground
turkey
-
4 slices provolone or
mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
-
4 kaiser rolls or
hamburger buns, split and toasted
-
Fresh basil leaves or
shredded lettuce
-
1/4 cup dried
tomato-flavored light mayonnaise dressing
Method:
-
Preheat broiler. In a large bowl beat egg with a fork;
stir in bread crumbs and salt. Add ground turkey; mix
well. Shape into four 1/2-inch patties.
-
Grease the
unheated rack of a broiler pan. Place patties on
prepared rack. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 10
to 12 minutes or until done (165F), * turning once
halfway through broiling time.
-
Top patties with cheese
slices; broil about 30 seconds more or until cheese
melts.
-
Serve patties on rolls topped with basil leaves
or shredded lettuce and mayonnaise dressing.
*Note:
The internal color of a burger is not a reliable
doneness indicator. A turkey patty cooked to 16SoP is
safe, regardless of color. To measure the doneness of a
patty, insert an instant-read thermometer through the
side of the patty to a depth of 2 to 3 inches.
