Fruits Dessert Recipe - Apple and Pear Mustard

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250ml) dry white wine

  • 1/2 cup (125ml) white grape juice

  • 2 sticks cinnamon

  • pared rind of 1 lemon

  • 3/4 lb (340g) green cooking apples, peeled, cored and diced

  • 3/4 lb (150g) seedless green grapes, peeled

  • 3/4 cup (185ml) Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) dark mustard seeds


Method:

  1. Place wine, grape juice, cinnamon sticks and lemon rind in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  2. Discard lemon rind. Simmer for a further 5 minutes. Discard cinnamon sticks.

  3. Add fruit. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until just tender. Carefully blend in mustard and seeds. Simmer for a further 2 to 3 minutes. Pour into warm, sterilized jars. Seal.
