Fast Desserts Recipes - Belgian Waffles with Caramel Apples

Ingredients

  • 75g butter

  • 75g soft brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup (80ml) golden syrup

  • 4 small red apples, peeled, core and each cut into eight wedges

  • 8 Belgian waffles


Method:

  1. Place the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a non-stick frying pan and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.

  2. Add the apple and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the apple is just tender. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes, or until the sauce is thick and syrupy.

  3. When the apple is almost cooked, lightly toast the waffles. Place two waffles on each serving plate, top each with four apple wedges, then drizzle with a little of the caramel syrup. Serve the waffles and apple warm with a dollop of thick cream or ice cream.
