Chinese Desserts Recipes - Fried Fruit Bon Bons

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (110g) dried apricots, finely chopped

  • 4 oz (110g) dates, finely chopped

  • 2 oz (60g) crystallized ginger, finely chopped

  • 3/4 cups (185ml) pecans or cashews, chopped

  • 1 1/2 tsp (7ml) chopped orange zest

  • 1 tbsp (15ml) orange liqueur or orange juice

  • 8 oz (115g) wonton wrappers

  • vegetable oil, for frying

  • icing sugar


Method:

  1. Combine apricots, dates, ginger, pecans, orange zest and liqueur. Roll 1 tbsp (15ml'0 of filling in hands to make cylinder 1 inch (2.5cm) long.

  2. Place filling across wonton wrapper. Moisten edges with water. Roll up to seal, twisting ends.

  3. Fry bon bons in oil to cover until crisp. Drain well. Dust with icing sugar and serve with Chinese tea.
