Chocolate Desserts Recipe - Sweet Short crust Pastry

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500ml) all-purpose flour

  • pinch salt

  • 1/4 lb (110g) butter

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 2 tsp (10ml) lemon juice

  • 2-3 tbsp (30-45ml) cold water


Method:

  1. Stir flour and salt into a large bowl. Add butter and cut it in until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add sugar and mix.

  2. Make a well in the center of mixture. Add egg yolk, lemon juice and water. Mix to a slightly crumbly, stiff dough. Knead lightly.

  3. Cover with plastic wrap and chill 30 minutes before using.
