Chocolate Desserts Recipe - Chocolate Marble Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups (335ml) self-rising flour

  • pinch salt

  • 1/4 lb (110g) butter

  • 1/2 cup (125ml) sugar

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • a little milk

  • grated rind of 1 lemon

  • few drops vanilla extract

  • 3 tbsp (45ml) cocoa powder

  • butter for greasing


Method:

  1. Stir together flour and salt. Place butter and sugar in a mixing bowl, food processor or blender and cream until light and fluffy.

  2. Add beaten eggs gradually, beating all the time, then fold in sifted flour, 1/2 at a time. Stir in a little mild so that mixture is not too stiff.

  3. Divide mixture between 2 bowls and add lemon rind and vanilla extract to one and cocoa to the other.

  4. Grease a 4-cup (1L )heatproof bowl or pudding basin and add lemon and chocolate mixtures alternately, a spoonful at a time.

  5. Cover securely with greased waxed paper, or aluminum foil, tie with string and stem for 1 1/2 -2 hours. Serve pudding very hot with chocolate sauce.

Note : You can use other flavorings and colorings to make a marble pudding . Try adding coffee extract, or grated orange rind and orange juice to achieve different effects and flavors. Always add the different colored mixtures in spoonfuls to get an attractive marbled effect.
