Chocolate Desserts Recipe - Chocolate Castles with Fudgy Sauce

Ingredients

  • oil for greasing

  • 5 tbsp (75ml) margarine

  • 1/3 cup (85ml) sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 tsp (2ml) vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (250ml) self-rising flour

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cocoa powder

  • a little milk to mix

Fudgy Sauce

  • 4 oz (110g) chocolate caramel bars

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Lightly grease 4 individual custard cups and line vase with waxed paper.

  2. Beat margarine and sugar together until pale and fluffy, then beat in egg and vanilla extract. Sift together flour and cocoa powder and fold into creamed mixture with a little milk, to give a soft dropping consistency.

  3. Transfer mixture to prepared custard cups and bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until well risen and firm to the touch.

  4. Just before puddings are cooked, make fudgy sauce; cut up chocolate caramel bars and place in a pan with the water. Stir over gently heat until bars melt.

  5. Turn out cooked puddings onto individual serving dishes and pour sauce over. Serve hot.
