1 1/2 tbsp (20ml) honey
combined with 1 1/2 tbsp (20ml) hot water
MARINADE
3 tbsp (45ml) soy sauce
2 tbsp (30ml) dry sherry
1/4 cup (60ml) hoisin sauce
1 tsp (5ml) fives - spice
powder
1 tsp (5ml) sesame paste
1 tsp (5ml) brown sugar
1 slice fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, crushed
3 tbsp (45ml) vegetable oil
dash red food coloring
Method:
TO
MAKE MARINADE: Combine marinade ingredients in bowl.
Cut
pork into strips 1 1/4 x 6 inches (3 x 15cm). Pierce
all over with a skewer. Add to marinade, stirring to
coat. Let stand 1 hour or overnight in refrigerator.
Roast pork Chinese style on a rack over a pan of
water, at 400F (200C) for 15 minutes. Baste with
marinade. reduce heat at 350F (180C) . Roast a
further 10 minutes.
Brush pork with honey mixture on each side, and
continue cooking for 10 minutes. Slice pork thinly.
Serve hot or cold or in combination recipes.
