Appetizers Recipes - Mushroom-Cheese Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix

  • 1/2 cup cold water

  • 1/4 lb. bulk pork sausage

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (with tops)

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing

  • 35 medium mushrooms (about 1lb.)

  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (about 8 oz.)

  • Paprika


Method:

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease oblong pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Mix baking mix and water until soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 strokes.

  2. Press dough in bottom of pan with floured hands. Cook and stir sausage in skillet until brown; drain.

  3. Mix sausage, onions and mayonnaise. Remove stems from mushrooms. Finely chop stems; stir into sausage mixture.

  4. Fill mushroom caps with sausage mixture. Place mushrooms in rows on dough in pan; sprinkle with cheese and paprika. Cover pan loosely with aluminum foil.

  5. Bake 20 minutes; remove foil. Bake until cheese is bubbly, 5-10 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes; cut into pieces.
