Appetizers Recipes - Cocktail Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef

  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

  • 2 Tbs. fine dry bread crumbs

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

  • 1/3 cup finely chopped green pepper

  • 2 Tbs. butter or margarine

  • 1 10 3/4-oz. can Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup

  • 2 Tbs. brown sugar

  • 1 Tbs. vinegar

  • 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard

  • Dash hot pepper sauce

Makes about 3 1/2 cups


Method:

  1. Mix thoroughly beef, egg, bread crumbs and salt; shape into small 1/2-inch meatballs.

  2. Arrange in shallow baking pan (12 x 8 x 2 inches). Broil 4 inches from heat until browned; turn once. Pour off fat.

  3. Meanwhile, in saucepan, cook onion and green pepper in butter until tender.

  4. Add meatballs and remaining ingredients. Cover; cook over low heat 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
